Open Positions

Floater

Location: Hope Head Start and Childcare.  All other locations as assigned.

Description: Assist teaching staff with activities in various classrooms including food service and bus riding duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must have a CDA credential or be enrolled in a CDA class and ready to obtain the credential within one year of hire. An associate degree in child development or early childhood education is preferred. Spanish/English bilingual skills are also preferred.

Schedule: 32-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday year-round

Center Assistant

LocationGrand Haven Head Start Center

Description: Ride the school bus, assist with food service, greet parents, supervise children, and interact with preschoolers

Qualifications: A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent is required

Schedule: Full-time, 32-36 hours per week, Mon.-Thurs., school year.

  • Hours are: 6:15am – 9am, 10am – 2pm, and 3:15pm – 5:45pm

Program Administrator

LocationMaplewood and Hudsonville Head Start Centers

Description: Responsible to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the assigned centers by overseeing all operations, managing staff, and meeting curriculum requirements. This position is responsible for ensuring that all Head Start Performance Standards and State of Michigan Licensing Rules are met.

Qualifications:

Educational requirements

This position requires one of the following:

1.  Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or other related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education

2.  Teaching certificate with ZA or ZS endorsement or appropriate combination of a bachelor’s degree, leadership experience, and early childhood development knowledge

3.  A master’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field with a ZA or ZS endorsement or appropriate combination of master’s degree, leadership experience, and early childhood development knowledge is preferred

A college course in the administration of early childhood centers is preferred

Skills and specifications

  • Three or more years of professional experience working with children ages birth-5
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Analytical skills to identify problems and generate ideas and solutions
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality

Schedule: Full-time salaried non-exempt, school year program with limited summer hours

Bus Driver – Full-time

Location: Coopersville Head Start

Description: Safely operates the school bus to transport children to and from their homes and the Head Start center, while maintaining accurate records of assigned buses and children. Assist the teachers in classroom between bus runs.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required.  CDL with Passenger and School endorsements is also required.

Schedule: FULL-TIME – approx. 32 hours/week. Monday-Thursday school year program

Center Assistant – part-time position

LocationRose Park Head Start Center

Description: Ride the school bus, assist with food service, greet parents, supervise children, and interact with preschoolers

Schedule: Part-Time, 20-24 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, school year, 6:15 am to 12 pm

Description: Assist teaching staff with activities in various preschool and infant/toddler classrooms including food service and bus riding duties as assigned.  Reports to Mental Health/Special Needs Manager
