Educational Services in Early Head Start |
| |
Overall Goal:
Our goal is to use research-based, intentional techniques to insure children’s success in kindergarten and in life. Our classrooms offer a culturally sensitive environment that meets the individual needs and interests of each child. Educational experiences are integrated within the day, including meal times and outdoor time. Children participate in hands-on activities designed for their skill level, insuring each child experiences success and develops a love for learning.
Family Involvement:
Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher. We encourage parents, guardians, and families to take an active roll in their child’s education. We welcome your involvement and willingness to share your culture, ideas, and feedback at any time.
Curriculum:
Our staff in our center-based infant and toddler classrooms uses our self-designed Early Childhood Curriculum: Birth Through Three. Individualized lesson plans are completed on a bi-weekly basis for this age group. Lesson plans are available for your review; please ask your teacher where to find them!
In our home-based infant and toddler program, we use the Parents As Teachers curriculum. Individualized lesson plans are completed on a weekly basis for this program. They are developed with the family.
Math: A major focus in all of our classrooms has been in the area of math. We incorporate the following math concepts into your child’s day.
Language: Language Development is ____________________________
Social-Emotional Development: All our classroom staff members have received training on increasing children’s social and emotional development. Our classroom environments are designed to foster a child’s self-esteem and help them grow socially and create secure attachment relationships.
Sign Language for Babies: Sign language is used in all of our infant and toddler classrooms. It helps children to communicate their needs before they are able to talk. Research shows that children who use sign language enhance their vocabulary skills.
Books: Each child in our program has the opportunity to receive at least 4 free books per year for their home library.
Field Trips: Each classroom takes field trips throughout the year to local community resources such as the library. We welcome parent’s involvement! Field trips are free of charge to children enrolled in our programs.
