Early Head Start

.: Center Based

The center-based program is an educational child care program which provides a safe, caring environment for children whose parents are working, attending job training or going to school, and want their children in a group learning setting.

Schedule: Full day, year round, Monday through Friday.

Eligibility: Low-income (according to federal guidelines or special needs*) children aged 6 weeks to three years.

* Priority is given to those with the greatest need. Ten percent of enrollment is reserved for special needs children.

Parent Participation: Parents participate during home visits, In-Center conferences and parent meetings. Parents are also involved in policy-making groups.

Children and parents participating in the Early Head Start receive the following services free of charge:

  • Learning activities
  • Breakfast, lunch and snack provided

    • Medical exams and treatment
    • Immunization follow-up
    • Hearing and vision screening
    • Dental exams and treatment
    • Support services to families
    • Special Needs assistance
    • Parent involvement activities
    • Volunteer Opportunities
    • Diapers

.: Home Based

Home visits: Weekly visits in your home will focus on:

    • Enjoying your role as a parent
    • Developing skills necessary to enhance your child's development
    • Day to day concerns

Eligibility: Pregnant women and children aged 0-3 years

Socialization: Bi-monthly gatherings are held for fun educational activities for the enrolled child and their family.

Parent Participation: Parents participate during home visits, In-Center conferences and parent meetings. Parents are also involved in policy-making groups.
